Eric’s Breakfast Smoothie

I love a good breakfast smoothie-they really are the easiest way to kickstart your day! I was told by a nutritionist recently that when we first wake up, our bodies are dehydrated and able to most efficiently metabolize anything put into them. That means if we begin our day by putting fresh fruits, veggies and water into our system it will be a straight shot of energy, nutrition and hydration! Sounds pretty good, right?

I will admit, I am a lover of a good cup of coffee. So here’s my new morning routine. I start by spending two minutes (yep, it really only takes a matter of minutes to throw these things in the blender) and make my smoothie. I enjoy it while I’m getting ready for the day, then grab my coffee with a dash of almond milk in a to-go mug and bring it with me to work. This way, my body got the good veggie nutrition, but I still get to enjoy the warm beverage that I love ever so much without that being what my system and adrenals are instantly absorbing.

My boyfriend, Eric, is a smoothie connoisseur. That’s right, he is a master of breakfast beverages. I came to him for some tips on what is the tastiest way to start my day:

Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie:

  • 1 banana
  • 4 pitted medjool dates
  • 1/2 C almond milk
  • 2 tbsp. almond butter
  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 2 handfuls organic spinach
  • 1/2 C frozen red berries
  • 2 tbsp. dry oatmeal
  • 1/2 C frozen mango (optional)

Blend and enjoy!
